Welcome from Your New Principal, Mrs. Carvalho

Dear DeValles Families,

I hope this message finds you well and that you're enjoying the last days of summer. It is with great excitement and honor that I introduce myself as your Principal at James B. DeValles Elementary.

My name is Mary Carvalho. I have served as Principal of Congdon Elementary for the past two years, and I am now in my 11th year with New Bedford Public Schools. I am thrilled to bring that experience to DeValles and to get to know this wonderful school community.

As many of you know, DeValles and Congdon Elementary will be combining into one school community this January, and I am proud to be leading both schools through this transition. I am passionate about fostering a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and I am committed to making sure that spirit carries through as our two schools become one.

Over the coming weeks, I will be getting to know the students, staff, and families who make DeValles so special. I am eager to hear your thoughts, ideas, and aspirations for our school community. Together, we can build on the great work already in place and strive for even greater achievements.
